A facelift for the Olympic Charter. In Lausanne, the executive commission took the decision on Thursday June 13 to modify some of its articles. At the top of the list is the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. In the current version of the document, it is specified that it must take place in the “Olympic Stadium "(rule 54.1). Paris 2024 having twisted this tradition, with the blessing of the IOC, the new text will use the vaguer expression of “opening ceremony site ». Furthermore, the executive commission proposes to increase from five to ten the number of members for whom the age limit can be extended at any time, a change supposed to "ensure continuity of leadership and governance”. It was also decided to remove the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the list of recognized international federations, the body chaired by Umar Kremlev having been dismissed from class in June 2023. These proposed changes will be submitted to a vote by the 142e session of the IOC before the Paris 2024 Games.
