Palestine will be present in less than a month at the Paris 2024 Games. But its presence promises to be discreet. According to a representative of the national Olympic committee, cited by AP, the delegation will include six athletes, including only one woman. Nader Jayousi, the technical director of the body, specified that those selected were engaged in boxing, judo, swimming, shooting and taekwondo. A seventh representative could be added in track and field during the week, but its chances seem slim. At the Tokyo 2020 Games, Palestine was represented by five athletes. Among the six selected for Paris 2024, only one, taekwondo specialist Omar Ismail (photo above), won a qualifying quota. The five others benefited from universality places. As a reminder, the deadline for the entry of athletes into the Paris 2024 Games, all sports and countries combined, has been set by the IOC for Monday July 8.
