WOA

The IOC and the World Olympians Association (WOA) issued a joint statement on Tuesday. This statement outlines the key points of thecooperation and licensing agreement which had been concluded in October. Among the points highlighted: The IOC will support the WOA, financially but also through communication tools and information. " Financial support will be determined on an ongoing basis, based on clear objectives and key performance indicators. "Says the document.

The WOA, which is committed to respecting the Olympic Charter, retains the right to use certain intellectual property of the IOCfor non-commercial and administrative purposes only. The IOC also owns the WOA emblem and the OLY title, which the Association manages. This statement testifies to the close relations between our two organisations and our shared desire to to ensure that the needs of the Olympians are met and that national Olympian associations have the necessary tools to be as effective as possible, in the interest of their members and society as a whole " WOA is pleased."

« We are delighted that our relationship with the IOC is being strengthened so that we can to best meet the needs of our National Associations and individual Olympianswith more resources and support from the IOC. We have accomplished a great deal over the past three Olympic cycles, including the creation of the post-nominal OLY and our scholarship and grant programs, and we look forward to working hand in hand with the IOC to offer even more services and opportunities to Olympians " declared WOA president Joël Bouzou this autumn.
