North Korea turns its back on the Tokyo Games

Nothing is getting better on the Korean peninsula. According to the agency Yonhap News, North Korea has made the decision to boycott the next women's football tournament counting for qualification in the Asia zone for the Tokyo 2020 Games. It is scheduled to take place in South Korea, on the island of Jeju, from July 3 to February 9, 2020. By giving up defending its chances in this competition disputed in its neighbor, North Korea is abandoning all its chances of participating in the Tokyo 2020 Games. The tournament was to bring together, in addition to the two Koreas, Vietnam and Myanmar . The first two teams will then face each other in a two-way match on March 6 and 11, with the winner earning their ticket to the Games. Always according to Yonhap, North Korea has already informed the Asian Football Association (AFC) of its decision to withdraw from the race for Olympic qualification.
