The Neverending Story. TheAFP reports that the appeal trial of Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini will take place from 3 to 5 March 2025. The two men, who respectively presided over FIFA and UEFA before being swallowed up by the cases, were acquitted at first instance in July 2022. It is expected to take place before the judicial court of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, in Switzerland. Sepp Blatter is suspected of having carried out in 2011 " an unfair payment", without any written trace, of the sum of 1,83 million euros in favor of Michel Platini. It was supposed to be payment for work as an advisor carried out by the former UEFA president between 1999 and 2002. After the acquittal pronounced in 2022, the Swiss public prosecutor and FIFA decided to appeal. The deliberations of the new trial are expected on March 25.
