Mustapha Berraf assured of a new mandate

ANOCA

End of suspense. Alone candidate for his own succession as president of Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ACNOA), Mustapha Berraf is assured of remaining in office. ACNOA confirmed this following the closing of applications prior to the elective General Assembly on March 15. Mustapha Berraf, President of the organization since 2019, will therefore remain in the IOC since his membership is linked to his function. The absence of opposition testifies to a “unanimous support of the 54 NOCs of the continent”. During Mustapha Berraf's first term, ACNOA increased its actions in favor of the feminization of sports bodies, strengthened the scholarship programs for athletes and established partnerships with FIFA and World Aquatics to develop infrastructure. As for the rest of the Executive Board, João Afonso (São Tomé and Príncipe) is the only candidate for the position of First Vice-President. Filomena Fortes (Cape Verde) and Matlohang Moiloa Ramoqopo (Lesotho) are in the running for the role of Second Vice-President. The post of secretary general will be the most contested with four candidates : Ahmed Abou Elgasim Hashim (Sudan), David Ojong (Cameroon), Khaled Zein (Egypt) and Seydina Omar Diagne (Senegal).
