
A formality. Without an opponent, Mustapha Berraf starts a second term as president of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). The 71-year-old leader was re-elected Saturday by acclamation during the ordinary session of the ANOCA general assembly in Algiers. He will hold office for a new Olympic cycle, until 2028.Ahmed Abou Elgasim Hashim (Sudan) remains Secretary General, and Habu Ahmed Gumel (Nigeria) Treasurer General. The organization's executive board has undergone some changes : Filomena Fortes (Cape Verde) is now Second Vice-President and Alfred Foloko (Zambia) is Third Vice-President. Other changes to note: Algeria becomes representative of zone 1, Chad from zone 4, Uganda from zone 5, Malawi from zone 6 and Madagascar from zone 7.
