The IAAF is rubbing its hands. In total, the 2013 world championships attracted 268.548 spectators to the Luzhniki Stadium for the eight evening sessions. An increase in attendance compared to the previous edition of the event, organized in 2011 in Daegu, South Korea (261.792 spectators). According to the International Athletics Federation, no other Olympic sport can boast such popular success for the World Championships, with the exception of football.
