Moscow gives thumbs up

tennis

The health crisis continues to cut croupiers in the professional tennis calendar. The new victim is Russian. The ATP and the WTA announced on Thursday September 17 the cancellation of the two tournaments scheduled for next month in Moscow. The men's circuit was to stop in the Russian capital from October 19 to 25, for a tournament ranked ATP 250. The girls were to follow from October 26 to November 1 for a WTA Premier. Both stages are removed from the calendar. The reason is the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Moscow. According to a press release from the two professional tennis authorities, the cancellation decision was taken by the local authorities. The other ATP 250 tournaments in Antwerp and Cologne, scheduled for the same week, “ will proceed normally”, provide ATP and WTA. The ATP 500 stage in Saint Petersburg, the previous week, is also kept on the calendar.
