It's official: the French city of Montpellier has applied to host the World Figure Skating Championships in 2022. Its application file, to be submitted to the ISU, provides that the competition would take place in the South de France arena, in the town of Pérols, south of Montpellier. This sports and entertainment venue was inaugurated in September 2010. It can accommodate more than 10.000 spectators. The Occitanie region and the Hérault department have given a favorable agreement to co-finance the project, assured the mayor of Montpellier and president of the metropolis, Philippe Saurel. As a reminder, the next World Figure Skating Championships will take place in 2020 in Montreal, Canada.
