The Italian delegation is complete. At home, the Blue Team will be represented by 196 athletes (103 men and 93 women) for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games. A total that surpasses that of the Turin 2006 Olympic Games (184 athletes). The participation of female athletes has never been so high since Women make up 47,4% of the delegation, much more than the 40,8% in Turin or the 39,5% in Beijing.
Italy has high hopes for speed skating, short track, alpine skiing (with Sofia Goggia, Federica Brignone and Giovanni Franzoni), and biathlon (with World Cup leader Tommaso Giacomel as well as multiple world champions Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi. The potential is there to surpass the 17 medals won at Beijing 2022. CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio has set the goal of winning at least 19, which would allow them to challenge the record from Lillehammer 1994 (20 medals including 7 gold).
