Mali candidate

CAN

Mali is eyeing the African Football Cup of Nations in 2017. After Libya withdrew due to socio-political instability in the country, the Malian Football Federation (Femafoot) announced that it was preparing a candidacy. “We have received political approval from the highest authorities of Mali to apply for the organization of CAN 2017. The Executive Committee of Femafoot is on file to engage our country, which already has the infrastructure required for the organization of an event like the CAN", explained the president of Femafoot, Boubacar Baba Diarra. Ghana, already the organizer in 2008 and which also has the required facilities, has also applied for 2017. Applications must be submitted no later than September 30, 2014 to CAF headquarters. The designation of the host country will be made at a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in 2015.
