The UWW lifts all restrictions for Russian and Belarusian athletes

The IOC now recommends to no longer apply any restrictions against Belarusian athletesAnd theWorld Wrestling Union (UWW) has decided to go further. It announced that Belarusians, but also Russians, could now compete like all other athletes, with their flag, in all categories, including seniors.

« The athletes' and staff's outfits can now display the initials RUS and BLRWhile the national anthems of both countries will be played during the medal ceremonies of UWW competitions if their wrestlers win gold medals or if a team wins a championship " explains the FI on its website.

The Russian or Belarusian anthem could therefore be heard this autumn, during the World Wrestling Championships, in Bahrain (October 24 to November 1)Last year, under the UWW flag, athletes from both nations won 13 medals, including one gold medal, won by the Russian Zaur Uguev.
