Chosen to host the Athletics events of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic GamesThe Memorial Coliseum is no longer really used to hosting sprinters or hurdlers. Its runway was removed in 1993 to add rows of seats for American football games. The legendary stadium will once again be in the Olympic spotlight in two years, and the athletes need to be able to familiarize themselves with it.
For this, a test event could take place at the end of May 2028 according to The Sports ExaminerThe United States Athletics Federation and the LA28 organizing committee are considering the logistics of such an event. Athletes would undoubtedly appreciate being able to to compete for the first time at the Memorial Coliseum, a few weeks before the OlympicsThe organizers, for their part, could rehearse their plans and ensure that all participants (athletes, support staff, spectators, etc.) have the best possible experience. The Coliseum will also be used for the opening ceremony on July 14, 2028.
