ITA launches new training programme to improve controls

Anti-doping

The International Testing Agency (ITA) has introduced a brand new international testing agent training program for blood sample(IBCO). The goal: to allow to nurses, doctors and phlebotomists who already have qualifications in blood collection to be able to participate in the fight against doping during sporting events. The content of this training was developed in collaboration with several national anti-doping organizations. The "students" will thus have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of anti-doping regulations, best practices in blood sample collection and blood transport logistics. "The aim of this training programme is to offer all athletes, regardless of their sport or country, harmonized processes that prioritize safety and integrity", explains Benjamin Cohen, general director of the ITA. The first candidates will be trained from April. The ITA has already trained more than 1600 international control antidoping agents from 133 countries through another program, in collaboration with more than 84 national and regional anti-doping organizations and sample collection agencies.
