Olympics 2028

The International Surfing Federation (ISA) is hoping to catch a good wave in Los Angeles. The general assembly convened on December 12 has in any case allowed its ambitions to be seen more clearly. The Inertiareports that two sites are competing to host the olympic competition: Huntington Beach and Lower Trestles. ISA to decide on issue "during the first quarter of 2025". The president of the body, Fernando Aguerre, also wishes to expand the casting of the Olympic event in 2028 with 24 additional participants in shortboard (12 men, 12 women). If the request were accepted, a total of 72 surfers would be competing in this category in Los Angeles. But that's not all! The ISA also hopes to see 32 athletes at the start on longboard, potentially pushing the number of surfers entered to 104. The federation will have to present serious arguments to convince the IOC, which limits the number of athletes. A response to these requests should be given in March.
