Brisbane 2032

International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons has passed three days in Brisbane in the run-up to the 2032 GamesHis last visit there was in 2023. He met with members of the Australian and Queensland governments, as well as the leaders of the Brisbane 2032 organising committee. He also attended the Australian Paralympic Committee Annual General Meeting.

« With the 25th anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games approaching, it's fantastic to be back in Australia to meet the people working to deliver a spectacular Paralympic Games in 2032., did he declare. The Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games were a game changer for the entire Paralympic Movement and, so far, I have been very impressed with the work done by all partners in the organization of the Brisbane 2032 Games. (…) The Games are truly a opportunity to forever change Australia, Oceania and the rest of the world. »

The IPC President expressed great confidence given the position of the Paralympic Movement in Australia. Brisbane 2032 and Paralympics Australia set sail an immense position of strength, Parsons believes. Many Paralympic athletes – such as Ellie Cole, Kurt Fearnley, Madison de Rozario, Curtis McGrath, and Vanessa Low – are household names. Dylan Alcott being named Australian of the Year 2022 is a testament to that. the high regard that Paralympic athletes enjoy in this country »

"Seven years before the Games, I can assure you thatno other host country or organizing committee has benefited from such a level of visibility for Paralympians. Two years before London 2012, less than one percent of the British population could name a Paralympian " he emphasizes. Australia has finished in the top 5 of the nations ranking in seven consecutive editions, between Barcelona 1992 and Rio 2016. In Paris, the Aussies. have gleaned 63 medals including 18 gold.
