India's bid for the 2036 Summer Olympics and Paralympics has changed course. According to the Times of India, the initial project is reportedly changing, at least geographically. Long considered the most realistic options, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, in the state of Gujarat, are no longer the first choices of the bidders. The trend is now to build the file around Delhi, the national capital, and the city of Agra, known worldwide for being home to the Taj Mahal (photo above). Several arguments are currently tipping the balance towards this option: the quality and density of transport, particularly air transport, the tourist attraction, and above all the possibility of using the many available sites to build or install the competition sites. The presence of the Taj Mahal, in particular, is highlighted by the Times of India as a natural, even essential, choice to symbolize the Indian candidacy, with the IOC but also internationally.
