IWGA and Germany commit to promoting non-Olympic sports

The International World Games Association (IWGA) and the German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) signed a memorandum of understanding in Frankfurt. Both parties commit to: promote non-Olympic sports, strengthen international cooperation and supporting athletes on the path to the World GamesThis collaboration will extend up to 2029, a year marked by the return of the World Games to Germany, in Karlsruhe.

« This agreement for the next four years marks an important step in our relationship with DOSB, explains José Perurena, president of the IWGA. In view of the 2029 World Games in Karlsruhe, this memorandum of understanding lays the foundations for a deeper and more effective cooperation for the benefit of athletes, federations and fans of our unique sports. » Thomas Weikert, president of the DOSB, agrees: " Supporting our athletes on their journey to Chengdu 2025 and beyond to Karlsruhe 2029 is a priority. This MoU ensures we align our efforts to elevate the World Games and its values across Germany and beyond. »
