Kirsty Coventry receives the Africa Gender Equality Trophy

Kirsty Coventry received the Africa Gender Equality Trophy from the ANOCA in Lausanne. Mustapha Berraf, President of ACNOAHe presented her with this distinction in the company of Dagmawit Girmay Berhane, Filomena Fortes, Aïcha Garad Ali and Lydia Nsekera, four women members of the IOC. Habu Ahmed Gumel, Treasurer General of ANOCA and Honorary Member of the IOC, was also present for the occasion.

The African Olympic and Sports Movement reaffirms its allegiance and loyalty, fervently hoping that the principles of sport and Olympism will flourish under your wise leadership. In March, Kirsty Coventry became the first woman to be elected head of the IOCShe is also the first representative from the African continent to preside over the body. The former swimmer, a multiple Olympic medalist representing Zimbabwe, took office in June.
