Awards time for the International Skating Union (ISU). The Lausanne-based body has revealed the three winners of its first edition of World Skating Day (WISD), organized on December 4, 2022 in 47 countries and 170 ice rinks on five continents. For the occasion, the ISU had imagined a competition to highlight the countries or cities having brought together the most skaters on the ice, in three categories: more than 500 participants, less than 500 participants, and ice dancing. In the first, the winner was not the most expected, since it was Indonesia, whose national federation (Federasi Ice Skating Indonesia) brought together 3.600 skaters in nine cities across the country. Mexico won the trophy in the category reserved for less than 500 participants. Finally, more expected, the victory in ice dancing went to one of the strongholds of world skating, the city of Montreal, where the Ice Academy was distinguished for having presented the most creative choreography of the day.
