After India, another Asian giant is eyeing the Summer Olympic Games in 2032. Indonesia, whose population exceeds 260 million inhabitants, took advantage of a press conference to present the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta to express its ambition to host the event. “Indonesia wants to host the 2032 Olympic Games,” said Erick Thohir, president of the 2018 Asian Games organizing committee. The leader assured that Thomas Bach's visit to Jakarta on September 2 for the ceremony closing of the Asian Games, would constitute an important step. “After witnessing the success of the 2018 Asian Games, the IOC will take into account Indonesia's capacity to host a major sporting event,” suggested Erick Thohir.
