Indonesia and Russia on the program

Climbing

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the International Climbing Federation (IFSC) to definitively draw a line under the 2020 World Cup, reduced to just the Briançon stage. But the body based in Italy was quick to plan for the following season. She announces that she has already finalized the program for the 2021 World Cup. The circuit will begin on April 16 in Meiringen, Switzerland. It will end on October 24 in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the world elite will stop for the first time. In the meantime, the World Cup will have offered climbers 18 competitions, or 6 for each discipline (speed, bouldering and difficulty). The 2021 World Cup is scheduled to visit three continents, Europe, Asia and North America. It will take a break during the summer, time for the best athletes to go to the Tokyo Games, where climbing will make its Olympic debut as an additional sport. Finally, the year 2021 will be marked by the organization of two major events in Russia: the Youth World Championships, scheduled for August 21 to 31 in Voronezh, then the 18th Senior World Championships, organized from September 15 to 22 in Moscow.
