A powerful symbol. In the midst of its campaign to secure the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Indian Olympic Association has launched an appeal to the country's 36 states and territories. The idea: that everyone plant 2036 trees on Olympic Day, on June 23rd. This would represent a total of 73.000 trees.
« The Olympic associations of the States and Territories of the Union have been encouraged to collaborate with local sports bodies, educational institutions, athletes, youth organizations and government agencies in order to to ensure broad participation and a lasting impactPlanting activities can be organized in sports facilities, schools, parks and other public spaces in order to maximize community engagement " the IOA states in its press release.
This initiative will highlight the commitment of the Indian Olympic Movement to sustainable development and the environmentbut also to demonstrate the country's ability to rally around Olympic Day. And thus to score points in the race to host the Games.
