India advances its pawns

Olympics 2032

India's bid for the 2032 Summer Games is progressing well. Present in Tokyo last week for the ANOC general assembly, the leaders of the Indian National Olympic Committee (IOA) put forward a few additional pawns. Rajeev Mehta, the secretary general, notably met several IOC envoys, including Jacqueline Barrett, in charge of relations with the candidate cities. “ We are very serious about this bid for the 2032 Olympic Games, he told the press agency PTI. We have already submitted the letter to the IOC expressing our interest in organizing the event. I met people from the IOC in Tokyo. They welcome this decision. They told us that India should have organized the Olympics much earlier. » Next step: the general assembly of the Indian Olympic Committee, scheduled for December 22. It must officially approve the decision to submit a candidacy for the Games in 2032. The project leaders will then have to obtain formal support from the government, but also choose a host city, Mumbai or New Delhi. India could then begin its candidacy campaign as early as 2022.
