Viktor Lukashenko was re-elected as head of the Belarusian Olympic Committee (NOCRB) in mid-January. The son of the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, was elected 82 votes in favor, against two "no" votes and three abstentions. No change either in the position of vice-president, still occupied by Dzmitry Dauhalionak. An important lesson, however, came with the recognition of these election results by the IOC. Its executive committee took the decision to "fully recognize the results of the elections of the General Assembly of the NOC of the Republic of Belarus held on January 15, 2025"and of "to allow the NOC of Belarus toaccess all Olympic Solidarity programs », NOCRB welcomes. "In general, there is a positive dynamic of interaction and normalization of relations between the Belarusian NOC and the IOC. The Belarusian NOC will continue to work with the IOC and international federations on the question of the earliest possible return of Belarusian athletes in international competitions », he adds.
