The Dakar 2026 program is expanding. The IOC Executive Board has approved the inclusion of the 800m freestyle at the next Youth Olympic Games, as requested by World Aquatics. This decision has not no impact on the number of quotas already set. The swimming events will take place in the Olympic swimming pool of the Tour de l'Œuf sports complex, which is currently undergoing renovations. In total, 151 events representing 25 sports will be followed in Dakar: 72 for men, as many for women, and seven mixed events. “For the first time in the history of the Summer YOG, there will be complete gender equality, not only in the overall quota of athletes, but also in all sports, disciplines and events.”, explained the IOC last December.
