Germany

The city of Hamburg has done its calculations. Local authorities have presented their budget for organizing the Olympic and Paralympic Games: they are counting on 4,8 billion euros in spendingOn the other side of the scale, they plan to reach 4,9 billion euros in revenueLocal partnerships would represent approximately 32% of this amount, ticket sales 30%, and IOC contributions around 25%. All these estimates were made with the support of external financial consultants.

The surplus of 100 million euros would be invested in modernizing sports infrastructure and the support from local clubsApart from this budget, the Hamburg authorities also plan to allocate 1,3 billion euros over about ten years to modernize sports facilities and the transport network, improve accessibility for people with reduced mobility and strengthen sports and educational programs.

The bid dossier relies on a large number of existing infrastructures to put the principles of the Olympic Agenda into practice: 76% of the necessary competition venues are already in place. The remaining 24% would be set up temporarily, using the exhibition center, the Millerntor stadium, or the Barclays Arena. The local population will be consulted by referendum on May 31, with 178 polling stations throughout the city.
