The Grand Slam Track, the professional track and field circuit project conceived and set up by Michael Johnson, is already taking shape. Three of the four sites for the first season, scheduled for next year, have been unveiled by the organizers. The tour will stop in Kingston, Jamaica, from April 4 to 6, then in Florida, at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, from May 2 to 4. A third competition will take place in Los Angeles, but at a date and location that are still unknown. For its first season, the Grand Slam Track is also planning a fourth meeting. Details should be announced before the end of the week. The project prepared by Michael Johnson and his associates plans to invite 96 athletes to each of the circuit's stops: 48 "Racers" under contract for the entire season, plus 48 "Challengers." They will compete in two races, grouped by family: short sprint (100 m/200 m), high hurdles (100 or 110 m hurdles/100 m), long sprint (200 m/400 m), low hurdles (400 m hurdles/400 m), short middle distance (800 m/1500 m), long middle distance (3000 m/5000 m).
