During the Paris 2024 Games, business continues for ANOCA. The African Olympic body announces that it has concluded a cooperation agreement with the German Olympic Committee (DOSB). It was signed earlier this week at the German House at the Paris 2024 Games by Mustapha Berraf, the president of ANOCA, and his DOSB counterpart, Thomas Weikert. Scheduled for an initial period of four years, the agreement provides in particular for reinforced collaboration between Germany and the African continent for the training of coaches and the development of national federations. In detail, German coaches will be seconded for internships of two weeks or more in African countries, at the expense of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Another program, “Kids Olympic Skills”, will be implemented in the run-up to the 2026 Youth Games in Dakar. A German coach will be sent to the Senegalese capital for a period of two years. Finally, Germany will award up to 20 scholarships each year to African athletes or technical executives for postgraduate international training courses at the University of Leipzig.
