Towards an increase in the sports budget in 2027

The sports budget is expected to reach a record level 361,7 million euros in 2027 in Germany. A strong signal as an Olympic bid is being prepared. The German Olympic Sports Confederation welcomed this budget proposal presented by the federal government « despite a difficult budgetary context ».

« The additional funds allocated (…) create better conditions for athletes, coaches and the federations themselves, thus ensuring the sustainability of sport. Investing in sport means investing in society as a whole and in our shared future " commented DOSB board chairman Otto Fricke.

The project notably includes plans to double the funds allocated to the German bid at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, increased to 6 million euros. On the other hand, the DOSB hopes for an effort to modernize sports infrastructure, an essential condition for the success of the entire system The draft budget will be debated in the coming months with a view to adoption in December.
