DOSB takes a step forward in eSports

The eSports Olympics are in limbo, but the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) is not giving up on the discipline, however. It announced the creation of a dedicated entity, DOSB E-Sports gGmbH, who are " an independent organizational platform to develop its future engagement in eSports in a structured, collaborative and values-driven way ».

« For millions of young peopleeSports and video games are an integral part of their daily lives. As an organized sport, we see it as a opportunity to highlight the movement, performance, community and values ​​in the digital space and to assume, with existing actors, the responsibility of contributing positively to its evolution " explains Leon Ries, a member of the board of directors in charge of youth at DOSB.

His first priorities will be:

  • the coordination and the support for the German national teams during international competitions;
  • develop performance and support structures in collaboration with partners in the eSport ecosystem;
  • networking of organized sports, eSports, politics, business and community;
  • develop social projects.
