La Plagne has been confirmed as the site of the The next Winter Games will be held in 2030 in the French Alps.Experts from the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) spent two days on site last week to meet with the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee (COJOP), Solideo, and the operator of the Olympic track. They were able to discuss the planned improvements on the site (lighting system, parking spaces, storage spaces…) and the vision of local stakeholders for the future.
« Our meetings were very constructive. and took place in a very strong spirit of collaboration, assures Gatis Guts, sports director of the IBSF. This venue will be part of our 2027/2028 World Cup calendar, and we will again host a development camp there in March 2027. IBSF events are now planned for each season until Alpes 2030. We will also be working with the French federation and the La Plagne ski club to supporting the development of local snow sports programs, involve the community, as well as recruit and train volunteers and officials for Alpes 2030. In this context, we will also organize the first juror training course in March 2027 »
Matthias Böhmer, the FIL's sporting director, expressed the same viewpoint: It's a pleasure to return to a track that already brings back Olympic memories. Overall, this visit went very well, because we all share the same values and work together towards the same great goal. »
