France opened its Olympic consulate

Paris 2024

Sophie Lorant, director of international relations for the COJO Paris 2024, announced it in October 2022 during the general assembly in Seoul of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC): France would have an Olympic consulate to process visa applications related to the Olympic and Paralympic events. Promise kept. The Olympic consulate, a non-physical entity, has officially been operating since January 1, 2024. Its objective: to prevent applications from being drowned in the flood of files currently being processed at the Nantes visa sub-directorate, and to guarantee that the members of the Olympic family” (athletes, coaches, officials, media, etc.) can obtain their pass on time. Applications related to the Paris 2024 Games will go through a digital platform, France-Visas, where the applicants' biometric data will be submitted online. The dematerialized visas will then be integrated directly into the accreditation card. In total, around 70.000 visa applications should be processed via this new system.
