France has never been so well served by the Olympic movement, with the Summer Games in less than 140 days in Paris and the near certainty of hosting the Winter Games in the Alps in 2030. But it is also interested in non-Olympic sports and disciplines. As proof, the signing of a cooperation agreement, the first of its kind, between the National Olympic Committee (CNOSF) and the International World Games Association (IWGA). It was officially initialed on February 20 by David Lappartient for the CNOSF and the Spaniard José Perurena for the IWGA, but has only just been made public. The agreement between the two bodies is presented as the first concrete achievement resulting from the meeting, in October 2023, of the national Olympic committees and the national sports organizations of the IWGA, organized in Madrid. It aims, essentially, to ensure better promotion of the World Games and the participating athletes. To the last World Games, organized in 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama, France sent a delegation of 167 athletes. With 42 medals, including 11 gold, she took 5th place in the nation rankings. Following in the footsteps of France, a second country, Spain, concluded a similar cooperation agreement with the IWGA.
