
Ski mountaineering will make its grand debut in Winter Olympics in a year in Milan-Cortina. The specialists of the discipline were gathered in Switzerland in recent days for the World's Championships, the first step in the qualification process for the Games. Titled with Thibault Anselmet and Emily Harrop, France obtained a quota in the mixed relay, as did Spain, who took second place in the event. Italy, as the host country, automatically has a place in this mixed relay. Four additional quotas were at stake at the individual level, on the sprint format. In the men's event, Spain and France once again won the precious sesame as Oriol Cardona Coll won the title ahead of Thibault Anselmet. In the women's event, the gold of the Swiss Marianne Fatton and the silver of the French Emily Harrop offered two quotas to their respective countries. The other quotas will be allocated according to the World Cup standings next December.
