FIS requests to relocate several events

French Alps 2030

Change of plan. While waiting for the formation of the COJOP, the preparation for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps is still progressing. An adjustment of the map of sites should therefore take place at the request from the International Ski Federation and snowboard (FIS). The big air, planned for Montgenèvre, would instead take place in Serre-Chevalier. No one would be disadvantaged since Montgenèvre would recover the half-pipe, which was to take place… in Serre-Chevalier. The structure of the pipe "must remain as tough as possible and there was fears from technicians at this altitude (1400 m), according to an expert" interviewed by The Dauphine. The FIS "multiplied on site visits" before requesting the reversal of these tests. Other changes are likely to occur in the months and years to come. The Grenoble metropolitan area has notably proposed to make the Stade des Alpes available for the opening ceremony, but also its ice rink, for offer less expensive solutions than the installations planned in Nice.
