FIFA unveils first base camps

2026 World Cup

No time to waste. Two years almost to the day of the opening match, FIFA has published a first list of base camps offered to teams qualified for the final phase of the 2026 Men's World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Mexico. The brochure lists an initial offering of 24 sites, which will be expanded over the next 18 months. It notably has base camps in nine cities which will not host games during the competition: Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Westfield, Irvine, Louisville, St. Louis, Salt Lake City and San Antonio. At this stage of the qualifications, the teams have not yet decided on their place of stay during the 2026 World Cup. But FIFA anticipates it: the multiple options proposed in the brochure will help the qualified selections to make their final choice after the draw, scheduled for the end of 2025. The teams will then know their group, and therefore the geographical area where their first three matches will be played.
