FIBA predicts 2028 Olympics will be "very special" for 3x3 basketball

Los Angeles 2028

Los Angeles 2028 confirmed on Tuesday that the Sepulveda Park would indeed be the official site of 3x3 basketball at the next Olympic Games. Basketball players will not be alone since the park will also host BMX freestyle, BMX racing and skateboarding, like the urban park established at La Concorde last summer for Paris 2024. Alex Sanchez, general director of 3x3 at FIBA, applauds this choice: « This iconic urban park embodies the spirit of 3x3 – open, vibrant, and rooted in the community. Los Angeles is one of the most iconic basketball cities in the world and has a thriving 3x3 culture. The 2028 Olympic Games will therefore be an incredibly special milestone for our sportThere is no doubt that the world's fastest growing urban sport will leave a lasting legacy for future generations in the San Fernando Valley." 3x3 basketball will also benefit from an additional spotlight with a total of 24 committed teams (12 for men, 12 for women), while there were only 16 in Paris.
