La European Games 2027 Coordination Committee was in Istanbul on Wednesday and Thursday. The message: for now, everything is going smoothly. The commission received the latest information from the organizing committee, chaired by Veli Ozan Cakir, regarding the budget, infrastructure and sports programwhich will be determined during the year.
« It was an encouraging visit to Istanbul, a great sporting city that is perfectly positioned to build on the success of Krakow-Małopolska 2023 and host the best European Games ever organized " said Spyros Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committees. After this promising first visit for the CoCom, I am even more confident. There is clearly solid skills and knowledgeeven though a significant amount of work remains to be done », added the president of the coordination commission, Mihai Covaliu.
« This will not simply be another edition of the European Games. It will be a moment when All of Europe will be able to clearly see Turkey's organizational capacityits sports infrastructure and its ability to organize major multi-sport events meeting the highest international standards " says Ahmet Gülüm, president of the Turkish NOC.
