Europe turns to esports

EOC

After the IOC and its Olympic Virtual Series, launched in 2021, the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) is in turn turning to electronic sports. She announces the signing of a cooperation agreement called “ strategic » with the Global Esports Federation (GEF). According to a press release from the continental body, chaired by the Greek Spyros Capralos, this agreement is part of the OEC’s initiatives to “ explore new ways of engaging with young people " on the continent. “ Europe is one of the growing regions in esports development, explains Spyros Capralos. This partnership will allow us to evolve, build and shape our strategy around electronic sports“. Nothing has yet been definitively decided, but the next European Games, scheduled for 2023 in Poland, could make room for electronic sport, like the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
