The 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games will serve as the setting for the elections to the IOC Athletes' CommissionVoting will begin on January 30, the official opening date of the various Olympic Villages, and will continue until February 18. All athletes qualified for the Games will be able to vote at polling stations set up in the various villages. The list of candidates has just been approved by the IOC Executive Board: eleven athletes are presenting themselves, for two places to be filled.
Among them, some great people: Swiss cross-country skier Dario Cologna, four-time Olympic champion ; Chinese skater Cong Han, Olympic pairs champion in Beijing 2022; Norwegian Magnus Nedregotten, double Olympic medalist in curling; or Canadian Marielle Thompson, Olympic skicross champion in Sochi. The other candidates are Oleksandr Abramenko (freestyle skiing, Ukraine), Zhanbota Aldabergenova (freestyle skiing, Kazakhstan), Ilkka Herola (Nordic combined, Finland), Yohan Gonçalves Goutt (alpine skiing, Timor-Leste), Ádám Konya (cross-country skiing, Hungary), Johanna Talihärm (biathlon, Estonia) and Yunjong Won (bobsleigh, Korea South).
The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected for an eight-year term on the athletes' commissionThey will replace Emma Terho and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen, whose terms will end during the Games. One condition must be met: the elected representatives must represent two different sports. The results will be announced on February 19, three days before the closing ceremony of the Games.
