The future of the African Olympic movement will perhaps pass through Egypt. According to several national media, the country is seriously considering launching a bid for the Summer Games in 2032. The admission comes from a reliable person, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy. Taking advantage of a press conference, he confided that Egypt was aiming to host two major international events, as part of a vast sports development plan. One of them would be the Summer Games in 2032, the other could be the Football World Cup. The Egyptian capital, Cairo, tried its luck in the race for the Summer Games in 2008, but was not selected among the official candidate cities. India, Australia, Germany and Russia have already expressed, more or less directly, their interest in the Games in 2032.
