Edgar Grospiron unanimously proposed as president of OCOG

French Alps 2030

The end of the tunnel is in sight. All stakeholders of the French Alps 2030 agreed on Thursday to propose that Edgar Grospiron take the position of Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. "At the end of the discussions, Edgar Grospiron's candidacy was the subject of a consensus between stakeholders, write the CNOSF and the CPSF, who were represented respectively by David Lappartient and Marie-Amélie Le Fur during this decisive meeting. First Olympic champion in mogul skiing at the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games, triple world champion (1989, 1991, 1995) and expert on the Olympic movement, Edgar Grospiron convinced by his energy, his passion and his expertise. His presidency will be proposed by the executive office to the Constituent General Assembly which will take place on February 18, 2025 at the Stade de Lyon." This decision is all the more symbolic as it comes exactly 33 years after the Olympic victory by Edgar Grospiron, who was the favorite. "For our French Alps 2030, the boss of the moguls: Edgar Grospiron! This is the proposal that we are formulating with all the stakeholders in the organization of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games, for the presidency of the OCOG, commented Renaud Muselier, president of the PACA region, on the X network. Competence, energy, joy and above all the Games! Onward!” The authorities also welcomed  “the quality of the applications received” and invited all the other applicants – Nathalie Péchalat, Vincent Jay, Marie Martinod, Jean-Luc Crétier, Gérard Holtz – to “commit to the success of the project”.
