The annual ceremony of Sporsora Awards was held on Thursday evening at the adidas Arena in Paris. Seven prizes were awarded to actors of the sports economy. The prize list notably rewarded EDF in the Sponsor of the Year category, where the energy supplier was competing with the BPCE group and LVMH. The company was Premium Partner of the last Olympic and Paralympic Games. Director of the Paris 2024 project at EDF, Pierre Viriot was asked about the possibility of seeing the group support the next major Olympic event in France: the 2030 French Alps Winter Games. "That makes sense, he replied in remarks reported by L'Equipe. The Alps are the cradle of hydroelectricity in France. The project has at its heart a societal and environmental promise extremely strong. We have all the know-how to support Alpes 2030, but it is a question worth a few million euros, so I reserve our answer to Edgar Grospiron." A few million, or even a little more: EDF's partnership with Paris 2024 was estimated at more than 100 million euros.The OCOG president has made the search for partners one of his priorities, with the objective of raising 600 million euros.
