Cycling

Meeting in congress in Zurich, on the sidelines of the road world championships (21-29 September), l'Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) engaged in one of its favourite exercises: the allocation of a whole salvo of world championships. The list had been prepared in advance by the body's executive committee. It has not been modified or amended. In total, no fewer than 16 global events were presented for the period 2025-2030. They will be held in 10 countries on four continents. Of note, the allocation of the 2029 road world championships to Denmark, in a city or region to be determined; the 2030 track world championships to Brisbane, Australia, two years before the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the same region; and finally the 2030 road world championships to Brussels. During the same congress, the UCI validated the membership of two new members: Nauru and Palau. With these two new members, the body chaired by Frenchman David Lappartient now has 205 national federations.
