The African Youth Games, scheduled in December in Angola, are slowly getting closer. The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Angolan authorities thus held, on July 7, a strategic meeting to take stock of the progress of preparationsOrganized by videoconference, it brought together the president of ANOCA, Mustapha Berraf, the president of the Angolan Olympic Committee, Pedro Celestino Sousa Godinho, and the vice-president of the Organizing Committee, Gustavo Dias Vaz Da Conceicao.
The Organizing Committee recognized some delays related to the national calendar, particularly to the density of events celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the country's independence. Mustapha Berraf insisted on the need to accelerate the pace with less than five months to go before the deadline. Several priority actions were identified, including the urgent sending of an official circular to the 54 NOCs for their communicate the final list of sports, the dates and terms of participation; as well as activation of the online registration platform, so that NOCs can submit their participant lists.
There is also uncertainty surrounding the meeting of heads of mission. Three options are being studied according to ANOCA: " its holding in Angola itself, in Algiers on the sidelines of the first African School Games or in a hybrid format "The idea is that this meeting should be held no later than October 2025, to give all countries the time needed for efficient preparation.
