The day after his setback during the election for the position of IOC President, David Lappartient announced that he would not be a candidate for a new mandate at the head of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF). "Even if the passion is intact, I wish to respect the commitment I made before you to engage me for two years in view of my other mandates, he explained Friday morning. If the accumulation of these commitments was possible during these two years at the cost of a very substantial personal investment, I do not believe that it is desirable, apart from the exceptional circumstances of the last two years, that the president of the CNOSF is not even more focused on his mission at your service." The Breton will concentrate on his re-election as head of the International Cycling Union (UCI). The future president of the CNOSF will be designated during the general assembly scheduled for June 19 at the Maison du Sport français. The call for applications was officially launched on Friday. Applicants must make themselves known before April 20 by sending a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt to the attention of the CNOSF Ethics Committee.
Cédric Gosse, President of the French Triathlon Federation, has already expressed himself on LinkedIn: "It's time to take a new step forward for the French sports movement. I'm leading a project based on: a strong and respected CNOSF, influential in public debate ; a useful CNOSF, at the service of federations, clubs and sports stakeholders; a modern CNOSF, in step with societal and sporting developments." Didier Séminet, President of the French Baseball and Softball Federation, also declared himself a candidate, wishing to move towards “a united and representative CNOSF serving all federations, clubs and volunteers; an influential CNOSF, capable of influencing political and economic decisions that affect our future; an economically strong CNOSF which develops new resources and ensures its independence”.
