Dakar 2026 commits to legacy

YOG

Two days to think about the legacy of Dakar 2026. The Organizing Committee of the next Youth Olympic Games has organized a 48-hour workshop with specialists for " define the strategy of measuring the impacts of the YOG before, during and after the Olympic event ". Dakar 2026 will collaborate with the National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD) to verify that its objectives are indeed achieved in economic, social and environmental fields.

« The stakes are immense. It is not simply a matter of counting sporting performances but of measure the profound impact that the YOG will leave on the development trajectories of our country ", explains Birame Holo Ba, Director General of the Operational Office for Coordination and Monitoring of Projects and Programs (BOCS), which hosted the workshop.

« I speak of a positive impact, but I am aware that it will not be enough to say it; it will have to be measured., underlines Ibrahima Wade, general coordinator of the YOG Organizing Committee. This involves proposing the mechanisms enabling that the planning and delivery of the YOG are monitored regularly and transparently with relevant indicators and a robust data collection and processing strategy. »
