The Youth Olympic Games are not just about sport. The streets of Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly begin to take on color with the completion of murals as part of the Yeesal projectAround forty artists will be mobilized to create these works over the coming weeks. The renowned graffiti artist Madzoo is overseeing this project, which will allow keep track of the Youth Olympic Games in the three cities hosting events.
A call for applications was launched last October so that local artists could put urban art at the heart of the Youth Olympic Games. Four themes were cited: the interpretation of Olympic values; a tribute to African athletes Cultural richness and diversity; the future and potential of youth. Applications from those under 35 were strongly encouraged.
